The Global Trading Card Registry provides a neutral registry designed to help collectors and the industry register, verify, protect, and transfer information associated with graded trading cards throughout their lifecycle.
GTCR creates an independent record around a graded card's unique certification number while respecting collector privacy and maintaining clear boundaries around ownership, authentication, and legal determinations.
What GTCR Does ✓
- Creates independent registry records for graded trading cards.
- Allows collectors to voluntarily register cards in their possession.
- Provides GTCR Trust Checks using grading-company certification numbers.
- Maintains reported lost and stolen card information.
- Records relevant registry events, including registration, loss, theft, recovery, and transfers when available.
- Helps establish documented provenance and continuity of registry history.
- Provides tools designed to help collectors, dealers, marketplaces, and other industry participants make more informed decisions.
- Supports information sharing with law enforcement when appropriate.
- Protects registered-owner identity from public disclosure except as permitted by GTCR policies or required by law.
What GTCR Does Not Do ✕
- Determine legal ownership or title.
- Authenticate or grade trading cards.
- Replace grading-company certification databases.
- Resolve legal ownership disputes between parties.
- Guarantee that submitted information is complete or accurate.
- Guarantee that a card without an adverse report has never been lost, stolen, altered, or involved in a dispute.
- Provide legal, financial, insurance, or investment advice.
- Replace buyer, seller, dealer, or marketplace due diligence.
An Independent Registry — Not a Determination of Ownership
The Global Trading Card Registry is an independent information and trust infrastructure for graded trading cards.
A GTCR registration documents information associated with a graded card and its certification number. Registration with GTCR does not establish or determine legal ownership, title, authenticity, or value.
GTCR may provide registration status, reported lost or stolen status, provenance information, transfer history, verification information, and other registry events when available.
GTCR provides information designed to help the hobby make safer, smarter, and more informed decisions.
Privacy by Design
GTCR is designed to verify information about the card without unnecessarily exposing information about the collector.
Registered-owner identities and private ownership information are not publicly displayed by default.
Public GTCR Trust Checks are designed to provide relevant card and registry status information while protecting personally identifiable information, subject to GTCR policies and applicable law.
The GTCR Principle
The card is public. The collector is private.
A graded card can move between collectors, dealers, marketplaces, auction houses, card shows, insurers, and other participants throughout its lifetime. GTCR's role is to provide an independent registry capable of helping that card's relevant history travel with it.
